MY FIRST SEMA EXPERIENCE

SEMA is the largest and most well known automotive aftermarket show in the world. It's were the most famous names in the automotive world shows of their latest and greatest cars and products. I've wanted to go there as long as I have known about it, as all other enthusiasts. This year it was time, I was fortunate to be involved in many exciting projects aiming to be done for the 2016 SEMA show. Three of them made it to the show.

First of the ''Fishtail Cuda.'' On January 1st I got an message from Tony, asking if I was interested in being a part of his next project. As he wanted someone to visualize it. This was all still just an idea but he already had a 72-73' Cuda in mind for his goal of making a drift muscle car. We've been through many styles and color schemes, but finally settled on this 70's Trans-Am racing inspired style. The tri-color stripes is a nod to the infamous 70' AAR Cuda raced by Dan Gurney. Flares were added to get that drift style look and the extra width needed for the minilite wheels and meaty Nexen tires.

The crazy part is the build itself only took six weeks, from a barn in Kentucky to the show in Vegas. I also did the graphics for this car, such as the redesigned T/A logo (Tony/Angelo) get it? he also wanted lightning in there, Ka-chow!
The Fishtail logo was done in the same tri color combo as the stripes and font inspired by 70's Mopar Super Bee graphics.
There's a chance Tony will be shredding som tires in future episodes of Hot Rod Garage at the Motor Trend Youtube channel so stay tuned!

The new FRS/BRZ/GT86 body is probably the most popular in drifting these days. Some pretty sick 2jz and LS swaps have been done, but how do you top that?  Ferrari.
I got a call from Shawn Hudspeth the head of Huddy Motorsports, asking me to put this to the drawing board.
The level of craftsmanship and detail in this build is amazing, especially considering the tight deadline to finish it.
I'm truly grateful for being a part of it!

There's a video of them starting it for the first time and shooting flames out of the exhaust located in front of the front tires. If you haven't already, you should watch it right now!

Another truly radical build I was involved in for this years SEMA show is this 75' Dart Sport built by Mike Garret from Speedhunters. As you can see the styling is inspired by classic Japanese racing, The raw look with an open grille, sheet metal interior, spoilers and sticky race tires really gives it an attitude! It's wrapped in matte purple, hence the coolest Mopar color ever, ''Plum crazy.''  It sits on Rays TE37V's to give more to that japanese racing theme. More goodies like custom seats by Cobra, Takata racing belts, fender mirrors, front mounted oil cooler and extra headlights are all tastefully put together to make this in my opinion the coolest build of these mopar bodies. Mike and the guys over at Caliber Customs really did a great job on this!
You can follow Mike on Instagram at @Japanifornia and read his features about this car at Speedhunters

''Project Yankee'' features one of the new crate engines Mopar is now offering with a plug-and-play ECU which makes it way easier for swaps like this to be done.

Here's my favorite from this years SEMA show, It appears as a 70 Mustang but underneath lays ''Godzilla'' a brand new Nissan GTR. Considering how much wider the GTR is than the 70 Mustang, this build by Pit Garage is really tastefully done. With all the mods done to the body they still manage to keep the old school muscle car spirit in there. Form follows function is probably the best way to describe it. Such an unexpected and inspiring build, It sure is upsetting for purists. That's exactly what I like about it.
Dare to be different!

I'm also working with Miro Pavletic and Cyrious Garageworks on some projects. This is a Camaro they've built, basically the coolest looking second gen I know of. I even had a saying in the new Autodip color choice for SEMA.

That's it for this year, what an amazing experience. So awesome to finally meet the people I have worked with over the internet for so long and even meeting some of my idols in the automotive world. I've already started working on projects for next years SEMA show. See you there!
